THE LAB by Studio7 Pilates Teacher Training Program is a 500-hour Comprehensive Teacher Training Program designed to give you the knowledge, hands-on experience, and mentorship to become a confident, capable Pilates instructor. Accredited by the National Pilates Certification Program (formerly the PMA), the curriculum combines both Classical Pilates with contemporary movement science to prepare you to teach thoughtfully, safely, and with confidence.

You’ll receive in-depth training on all major apparatuses (Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, Barrel, and Spine Corrector) along with anatomy, pre- and postnatal considerations, contraindications, and injury awareness. Beyond learning the exercises, you’ll develop the skills to cue effectively, build purposeful programs, modify for individual needs, create seamless transitions, and teach clients with a wide range of abilities and movement goals.

Throughout the program, you’ll be supported with hands-on practice, structured mentorship, and guidance from experienced educators who are invested in your success. By the time you complete the program, you’ll have a strong understanding of the Pilates method, the confidence to teach independently, and the tools to build a meaningful, lasting career as a Pilates Teacher.

Designed with busy schedules in mind, our 7-month weekend training format makes it possible to complete your certification while balancing work, family, or travel. THE LAB by Studio7 Pilates program meets one weekend a month, starting in October and concluding the first weekend of March 2027. Each weekend session meets Fridays 6p – 9p and Saturdays/Sundays 12p – 6p.

What does COMPREHENSIVE mean?

Being a Comprehensive Pilates Teacher is the gold standard for the industry. It means you have completed training for Mat and all major apparatus (Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, and Barrels), possess advanced knowledge in anatomy, biomechanics, and you are skilled in programming for all populations. We encourage everyone to complete a comprehensive Pilates Instructor Certification.

What does the program include?

  • Classical Mat Repertoire
  • Reformer

  • Chair
  • High Barrel
  • Spine Corrector
  • Magic Circle
  • Anatomy module that includes planes of movement, muscles, breathwork, pre- and perinatal considerations, common injuries and contraindications, and how to breakdown each exercise
  • Pilates principles and Scope of Practice
  • Self-Practice hours: time spent on your personal Pilates practice to become proficient in the repertoire (95 hours of self-practice).
  • Observation: time spent observing private sessions and classes led by Certified Pilates Teachers (75 hours of observation).
  • Practice Teaching: time spent teaching Pilates to real bodies under supervision such as friends, family, neighbors, or other trainees. (130 hours of practice teaching).

Is this program accredited?

YES. Upon graduating from THE LAB by Studio7 Pilates program, you will be qualified to teach at any studio nationwide as well as register for the NPCP exam* (not required to teach, varies studio to studio). While not every studio requires an NCPT certification (we do not), many studios do, so it’s important that you complete a program that prepares you to sit for the exam in case a studio requires that for employment.

Where can I teach upon graduating?

With a Comprehensive Pilates Instructor Certification from THE LAB by Studio7 Pilates, you will be qualified to teach at ANY studio nationwide. THE LAB curriculum is very thorough, and prepares you to work in any setting and encourages you to continue your education to specialize. While some studios run programs that are only recognized by their particular studio or corporation, THE LAB is recognized nationwide and gives you autonomy to teach anywhere.

What makes this program so unique?

When you commit to THE LAB by Studio7 Pilates, we are also committing to you; each student will receive five 1:1 mentorship sessions while completing your practice teaching hours, you are added to a private slack channel for ongoing support, and your practice teaching hours are supervised. We encourage everyone in our cohort to complete their hours at Studio7 to ensure they receive the necessary guidance and feedback; while many programs allow you to complete your teaching hours on your own without supervision, there is no guarantee that you are going to learn HOW to teach to all body types. We are with you for your entire journey, start to finish, to set YOU up for success to be a confident, effective, and safe teacher upon graduating.

What about Scholarships, Bridging, or Payment Plans?

We acknowledge that Pilates Instructor Certification programs are expensive, and we don’t want financial constraints to limit anyone from pursuing their dream of being a teacher. We offer 3 Community Enrichment Scholarships (limited to BIPOC or members of the LGBTQ community) and 1 Bridge Scholarship (applicant has completed a comprehensive program and is looking to expand their education) per cohort; we offer payment plans, and “early bird savings” for the comprehensive program.
