Your Pilates Certification Isn’t The Finish Line…

Thinking of Pilates Teacher Certification but unsure how to choose a program? It can be overhwelming and confusing if you’re not sure what questions to ask. The most important part? Find a program that works for your goals:

• Do you want to be able to teach anywhere?

Many programs are only valid for the corporation or studio offering them; you want a program that is NCPT eligible.

• What is your anatomy background, are you familiar with muscles and kinesiology?

Many programs have a very basic anatomy section but they don’t really cover movement principles or the muscles used in each exercise. This is important when programming sessions to your specific clientele.

• Do you want to work with special populations? Does the program cover common injuries and contraindications?

Most studios have clients of all ages and abilities but the teachers don’t know how to modify for common injuries.

• Are you looking for personal feedback, guidance, and mentorship?

Many programs teach you the exercises but don’t provide ongoing mentorship during and after certification.

• What does the training program schedule look like, are the trainings in person or virtual? Do you have to complete a set number of hours On Demand?

Not all programs are created equal – some provide hands-on and in-person education, while others leave it up to you to complete your hours On Demand.

THE LAB by Studio7 Pilates is a 500-hour Teacher Training program that blends Classical Pilates with contemporary movement science and teaches the Pilates system (including Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, Barrel, and Spine Corrector) as well as anatomy, pre- and postnatal considerations, contraindications, and injury awareness.
