Many industries require continuing education hours, but the Pilates industry is unregulated; there really isn’t a governing body that is enforcing continuing education requirements in order for teachers to continue seeing clients. I’m sure you can see how highly problematic this can be, especially given the rise in popularity that Pilates is experiencing the last few years. I’ve always believed that continuing education is important, but finding quality programs has been challenging, so I’ve never required it from the teachers. There seems to be a shift the last few years, and while learning new choreography to incorporate into sessions is fun, I firmly believe that expanding your education into a special population can be more rewarding and make Pilates more accessible. We’ve found quite a few quality workshops this year, and are all excited to challenge ourselves and expand our knowledge base; however, continuing workshops can be very expensive. As an employer, I am proud to be able to offer a yearly stipend for each teacher to help cover the costs of continuing education workshops, and am working hard to assist in more specialty certifications long-term. I have high expectations for myself and the team. 🙂
To kick off our CEUs for 2026, we are all so proud of Karen for completing the Pilates Sports Center Scoliosis Workshop for Movement Professionals Level 1 certification! She spent an entire weekend learning how to program for clients with scoliosis, and passed her assessment test to receive her certification. If you or someone you know has scoliosis, she has a few openings on her schedule for private clients.
Coming up in May, many of us will be taking the Size Inclusive Pilates Workshop that is being offered by Lindsey, owner and creator of Fat Body Pilates in Minnesota. If you’d like to learn more about Lindsey, her IG is @fatbodypilates. Later this summer, Chelsea and I will be taking a Pilates for Hypermobility course that is being offered by one of my friends, Mandee, owner and creator of Santosha Pilates in Oregon. If you’d like to learn more about Mandee and her expertise, her IG is @santoshapilates.
I will also be holding a Barrels and Jumpboard workshop this summer that is open to any Pilates Teachers looking to deepen their practice; dates will be announced soon, and several of our newest teachers will be participating in that workshop as well.
We know our community values the knowledge and education we provide in our classes and private sessions, and we are so happy to be able to continue to bring you the best Pilates education in the city!
